Our story

Welcome to Quinta Courela do Monte—our off-grid dream in Portugal!

Eight years ago, we left the Netherlands in search of a simpler, more beautiful life. That leap of faith led us to Portugal, where we opened a surf house and spent seven unforgettable seasons welcoming guests from all over the world. But along the way, a new passion started growing.It began with a tiny vegetable patch and one very special donkey named Berkey. Soon, our little family grew to include three donkeys, three horses, and a thriving garden. We fell so deeply in love with growing healthy, seasonal produce that we even started delivering fresh veggie boxes to our local community!The more we immersed ourselves in the land, the clearer our purpose became. We wanted to live in complete harmony with nature. So, we asked ourselves: Why not go all the way? Why not go completely off-grid?

We searched for the perfect piece of land—sun-drenched, close to the ocean, and rooted in the region that completely stole our hearts. That is how Quinta Courela do Monte was born. Today, we are building our sustainable paradise from the ground up, where simple living and nature come together.We invite you to follow our raw, beautiful adventure!
